Are you looking for free backyard entertainment for the kids? Check your local secondhand marketplace for irrigation tubes or free slides. Many people would rather have someone take these for free than hauling to the dump.
Instead of a spendy swing set, we were lucky enough to score this 24” irrigation tube for free and turned it into a backyard slide (or should I say, “Mayhem Mountain”).
Just follow these simple steps to make your backyard slide/free playground!
1. Make or use a hill of existing dirt or wood chips.
2. Dig out space for the slide to settle into. Adjust slide until it’s the right angle then add dirt to secure the sides. We also added anchored posts and attached them to the slide for extra stability.
3. Cut out space for heads to pop up at the bottom. A jigsaw worked great for this. Just add some foam or sand down the edges of the slide because they get sharp.
4. Test and adjust! Take a few test runs down your slide and adjust it to the right speed and height.
5. Personalize! Just for kicks, we gave our slide a name. You can do the same, just grab some boards and a basic Wood Burning Kit.
Now all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the laughter and hours of outdoor fun with your very own backyard slide!
Tip: When you are supervising, add a kiddie pool at the bottom for bonus fun!
